Frenchies have unique needs and these products have proven themselves!
If you have a dog that's a bit of a "nervous nelly" who is anxious or overly reactive in certain situations, has separation anxiety, etc. this is a great, all natural, calming product which includes Valerian Root and Raspberry leaf.

We learned about ForeFront products from our horses! Not only do they make top quality equine suppliments, but they also have two of the best canine suppeiments we have used. We have all of our dogs on the Canine Hip & Joint from puppyhood and all of our babies are raised on their digestive powder, as well.
The Hip and Joint includes egg membrane which is an excellent, natural source of collagen - this is not a typical ingredient in most canine joint supplements. It also includes curcumin for anti-inflammation. The dogs love it and eat it like a treat. We give the "treats" to our dogs as preventative maintenance. Frenchies are a thick boned, stocky breed. This products gives puppies the extra support they need while growing and offers the older dogs the support they need as they age. The Benecell is perfect for the adult dogs. The digestive powder we sprinkle on all our dogs food, both adult and puppy. The powder contains canine specific pre and probiotics. Anyone who knows Frenchies understands they are prone to digestive issues, the powder is a tremendous help with maintaining a healthy gut and is also ideal for any dogs that are on an antibiotic course. What we like especially about the probiotics in this blend is that they're "canine specific" in other words they are not bovine probiotics which is what is typically used. They also include prebiotics which help the probiotics do their job. Both the Hip & Joint and the Digestive Powder include Benecell(R), which is a nucleotide. Nucleotides play a critical role in the body by accelerating the cell proliferation process (the production of new cells). The production of new cells allows an animal to manage and recover much quicker from any stress (travel, performance, illness, disease, injury, etc.). We also sprinkle the Colostrum Powder (in ForeFront's equine line) on top of their food (and in our own smoothies). Colostrum has a host of digestive benefits but it is mainly used for building immunity and reducing inflammation. We've seen this powder work miracles on dogs that were doing poorly as a result of something they ingested. We had a family whose young Frenchie gobbled up something while out on a walk and was deathly ill with severe vomiting, diarrhea and dehydration. After two emergency clinic visits and regular vet visits the pup wasn't getting much better, over the course of ten days he had lost nearly 20% of his body weight. I insisted they try the Colostrum and by the next morning all stomach troubles had stopped and he was on the mend. With a breed like French Bulldogs, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure! For a general vitamin/mineral supplement we like Muscle Bully brands Puppy Naturals, and for the nursing mom's or adult dogs when they need some added weight we use and love their Mass Gainer formula.
One of our Mom's really loses a lot of condition when she is nursing so we add the Mass Gainer formula to her diet the moment she is back on solid food. Use code: KASHA20 at checkout and Muscle Bully will give you 20% off your order plus free shipping! |

One of the things that is challenging with some Frenchies is finding a purse or dog carrier bag that can handle their bulk and weight. We usually use a stroller, which can also be a bit cumbersome, too. We found the K9 Sport Sack and were just thrilled!
Now, I can take a Frenchie with me when I ride my horse or just stroll around. This sack is perfect for a Frenchies conformation. It is safe, comfortable and incredibly convenient! If you love Frenchies, you'll love the convenience of this innovative product! To visit and order K9 Sport Sack, either click here, or on the "Get One" pink button on the left. |

We love feeding bones!
|
Dog Food:
We feed a combination commercial grade diet plus raw. We alternate between a fish-based or duck-based formula, and always grain free. We start all of our puppies on human baby food for the first week, mixed with powdered puppy formula by Substimama and move on to Royal Canin's Puppy Mousse. After they're doing well on the Puppy Mousse we introduce them to solid kibbled puppy/dog food. We are currently using Kirkland's Small Breed Nature's Domain for our dogs (it's in the pink bag). We have found that some dogs, and a lot of Frenchies, have trouble digesting Chicken or Turkey based dog food, so we avoid it in favor of other proteins. Additionally we make a beef bone broth that we add to their daily food. We will generally alternate different vegetables in their broth, but typically include potatoes, carrots and spinach. Treats and Teething Toys: Raw Bones - We offer "raw bones". The calcium plus marrow of these natural raw bones is ideal for teething puppies and is also really enjoyed by our adult dogs, as well. If you have a narrow muzzled breed (Whippet, Basset, Cocker), ensure that the marrow bones you purchase are small enough that their bottom jaw can't fit through them. Also, ensure that that the bones are big enough that your bigger dogs can't swallow them. But, we love these for our Frenchies, especially during hot weather when we offer them frozen. When the marrow is eaten out of the bones, we will pack them with organic peanut or almond butter, freeze them, and offer those as a treat. Deer Antlers - We also like deer antlers as a healthy treat for dogs to chew on. Deer antlers are available at most quality pet stores, if your lucky can be found when hiking around after the deer shed them, or become friendly with a deer hunter. PLEASE DON'T EVER, EVER, EVER give your Frenchies rawhide! Rawhide is a major choke hazard and is particularly deadly on dogs with short palates. |
We absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Pure Paws products for our Frenchies. They have a variety of different blends but we have found that their H20 hidtrating formula is ideal for a Frenchies sensitive skin and coat. In between baths we use their hydrating spray. The hydrating spray, not only works great to keep moisture in their coats, but it smells amazing. We've found nothing we like more and it's local to Texas, as well! All our puppies go home with a sample pack of this product!

We love this grooming tool for our Frenchies! We have the big one out in the barn for the horses and the medium and small one in our grooming box for the Frenchies. It's easier to hold and manage than a Furminator and we feel it gets more loose hair and dander out on dogs with loose skin. We use the smallest one (for cats) on our puppies and the adults with more sensitive skin or thinner coats like Luna.

Another grooming tool we like is this cat slicker tool. The traditional dog slicker wire brushes are too stiff and rough on a Frenchies delicate skin and thinner coat. The cat slicker is just the right size with flatter teeth making it easy to deshed with. The cat slicker will wear out over time, and tends to snap at the neck, but it's affordable and easily found in the cat grooming section of most pet stores.

Cooling mats --- Don't leave home without them! These are great as the gel filling draws the heat out of the dog and replaces it with cool. We keep one in our car during summer travel and keep one in our dog stroller. Cooling Mats can be found in your local pet store or online starting at around $20. We will added frozen water bottles or freezer packs during hot weather, as well. You can never be too careful, Frenchies can easily overheat.
